Frank’s automotive insight has earned him numerous International Wheel Awards and International Automotive Media Awards for excellence in journalism. Frank will serve as the Technical Director for the timing and scoring, and is developing the index formula for equalizing contestant vehicles of widely varying power and weight. Using commercially available time, speed, and cornering data systems along with real time data recorded in each vehicle he will be able to translate and dissect the best and worst runs. He will examine peak acceleration, braking, cornering, and power of the various contestants’ cars. Frank’s racing credentials include extreme ice racing, several Bondurant high-performance driving courses, and 30 years spent driving other people’s vehicles in his capacity as Technical Director for Motor Trend Magazine, the World’s Automotive Authority. Charles thrives on interviewing car guys. He’s a quintessential “car guy”. Charles and Frank will be supervising the Technical Inspection of each vehicle before and during each race. Inspections on camera will reveal the level of preparation of each Participant and their vehicle. Each Participant car must be weighed and run on a dynamometer at each site to allow the performance index to be calculated correctly. Charles will be on location at the beginning of each Participant run to encourage the Participant to get a clean run and push it to the limit. He will be seeing all of the performance details of the vehicles prior to beginning of each race and can discuss each Participant’s strategy for attacking the course. In addition Charles will be weaving the human back-story into the racing performance reality of each participant so that the audience gains a more focused and complete picture of each cast member.
